A very good find on the internet which I have bookmarked for the future. Only possible drawback was no lift which if you are tired, have heavy bags or young children, could be a drawback.

The staff were very polite. Because of the location they could charge what they liked as the hotel is in the middle of nowhere. For instance a Tuna sandwich was nearly £7. It came with salad and nachos. The room was tiny and dirty and the shower tray that you stood in rocked from side to side.

If I had been staying for more than one night I would have booked out and found somewhere better to stay. Bus shuttle runs on the hour which at 11.20 at night means waiting till 12.15. Can be frustrating. On the plus side it was inexpensive. Get what you pay for I guess.

Room wasn't bad but we asked for an early call only to find no phone in the room. I asked for a phone and was told a handset would be sent up. Nothing arrived so I went down to enquire as to its whereabouts, the chap in reception disappeared and returned with handset for me to install myself which was fine but when I tried to install it the socket in the room had the wires ripped out so was useless. At this point I gave up as it was 1:00am and I had to get up at 5:30 to catch early flight. Also the early transfer bus was fully booked and ended up in a taxi at extra cost. Apart from that, what we saw of the facilities in the hotel was very pleasant.

The stay was fine but expected for the price paid. Though the drink and food was overpriced, for example "small bowl of chips £3.95".

The Hotel's transfer coach was just right in terms of timing and frequency. The place was clean, tidy and busy but was really pleasant staying there.

Taking the refurb into consideration the accomodation was good and should be obviously better when completed, but unsure if a lift is being fitted, would consider booking again though.

Everything was very good, value for money great. We have used this hotel twice now and will continue to do so when going on holiday. Just one point though: last year we traveled in the winter and found the hotel's public areas very cold. Although our room was nice and warm.

The hotel provided secure parking for the car with a quick and easy collection process. The rooms and breakfast were of a high quality. I would recommend this hotel to anybody that wanted to have an overnight hotel with parking.

We were very pleased with the hotel and were made to feel very welcome, even when we left in the early hours of the morning. Thank you for our stay with the Russ Hill Hotel. We'll come again and recommend you to our friends. (which I have already done!)

The hotel must have been beautiful in its day - the reception area is beautiful. However, in this beautiful reception is the ticket machine for the park and ride for the airport which some what spoils the area - could they have not put this somewhere else? The lady who was taking details of the cars on arrival was extremely rude, you do not really need this when you have travelled x amount of miles to the destination. On a brighter note we would stay there again; excellent value for money.

Hotel describes itself as in quiet location - but very difficult to find unless approaching from the airport side. Roads almost single track in places covered in trees - arrival at night hard. All staff answered with so few words giving minimal information so as to seem unhelpful and unfriendly. Car park areas very tight for manouevering, had to drive around a few sections in the dark to find somewhere to park. Uneven surface for dragging suitcases. No smoking room booked but stank of cigarettes -complained and told they "didn't have any left". No apologies, no prior notification - tough. Beds so small and soft that it was impossible to sleep without almost falling out. Room very small and basic with kettle on a small shelf above the bed - dangerous? General condition of hotel was very shabby with threadbare carpets stuck with gaffer tape, poor paintwork and musty smell throughout. Thought it would be OK for a 3 star! Would not recommend this hotel unless there are no other options.

We were not happy that they had a function on in main hall, which was right next to one of our room and because the access to our rooms was through the function room we had to go up a flight of stairs then down a second flight which was not very convenient with a pushchair and three suitcases. Did not feel refreshed in morning, which was the whole idea of going there.

This was our second stay at Russ Hill Hotel. We will certainly use it every time we travel from Gatwick in the future. The parking was easy, the hotel absolutely spotless and the coach was on time.

The Family Room and parking for 2 weeks were a good price, but the room was very cramped and bunkbeds for an 11yo and a 16yo weren't brilliant. Room service was middling in price and speed (one meal forgotten!), but the food was "real" and excellent! It was a pain to find that, on arrival, tickets for the xfer coach had to be bought from an archaic machine in the foyer that didn't take notes or credit cards... finding £16+ in coins was an unexpected pain, though reception did provide change if you didn't mind queuing! The "coach" was an old boneshaker of a single decker city bus with rather grumpy staff, though it did arrive and leave on time. The parking was on site, but we had to walk for about 10mins to find it at 1:45 in the morning...we could have done without that!

Hotel carpets were completely worn out, although some were being replaced when we returned. The restaurant service was absolutely appalling and very overpriced (captive market). Our car was parked under trees and covered in bird droppings, leaves and twigs from the trees when we collected it (I have only just managed to remove all the bird dirt - three days later). The bus service on return only runs once an hour and we had to wait 55 mins for the next bus. I will never never use this hotel again.

Had worried about the transfer to the airport as it was a very early morning one but it was quick, cheap and easy - door to door!

The transfer bus was overcrowded and suitcases were dangerously stacked. The driver offered no advice or assistance.

I was really impressed with Russ Hill. For the price the room was fine, the staff were really efficient and it made getting started on my holiday - and getting back - go really smoothly.
