Russ Hotel is not a Travel lodge or modern box like hotel. It has character and is a very pleasant place to stay before an early departure to the airport. The instructions to the hotel were good.We found the check in service and transport to Gatwick efficient. Although the pick up bus only runs once an hour, it's easy enough to take your time in the Airport to avoid hanging about outside. With current road works at Gatwick it is a bit of a trek to the pickup point. WE would definitely use the hotel again.

The bedroom was very small and smelled musty. There was no heating on but a there was a fan heater. The room & bathroom were clean however. The bed was very uncomfortable. The buffet meal was better than anticipated, and the restaurant staff pleasant. Transfer fee to airport was £5 a head return which was very reasonable. We noticed on our return that the mileage on the car had changed by 10 miles, and it was explained to us that the car had been stored "3 or 4 miles away". I would only recommend this hotel if one was on a budget.

i had 2 rooms booked, one triple and one family room. family room was brillent standard and was very happy, double room was ok on size but both very clean. transfer and parking was easy to organise and staff very helpful. food was ok, bar wasnt cheap nor exspensive for what we had (pizza and drink deal for £9.95).

we had 2 double rooms in my party, my room was lovely however my daughters room was tiny and she wasnt overly happy. can't fault the price as included car parking and bus fair. 50% of the party was happy with rooms and staff were lovely.

The hotel was shut on arrival owing to a power outage. A reservation was made at another hotel at higher cost. I had to pay the extra myself and also I had to pay the taxi for the transfer from one hotel to the other. The manager said that the cost would be born by insurance, but I am a UK resident without travel insurance. I was disappointed by the service and care I received. My understanding is that the manager has requested a refund on my behalf to my credit card. Can you please let me know, if this has happened?

Room had a window!!! It was about 8ft off the ground, very small and very basic room. Would only use this hotel for the purposes of flying from Gatwick airport and parking, as very good value for money for this purpose.

Not handicap friendly, had to take a small room, located under the steps on the ground floor; no lift. The staff was very pleasant The rest of the hotel is was very nice. Beautiful location. I like the horses grazing in the field used for the car park.

Inexpensive stay and park hotel. Nice location (as soon as you can actually find the place). Reception and parking staff efficient but not friendly. Wake up call never came---we were not the only ones. Bus service good, but too infrequent. Overall, we got what we paid for, but the experience could have been better

On arrival parking was simple and convenient. Reception desk staff were OK, although not welcomming. When trying to take our bags to our room we were advised that we were expected to carry them up and down a flight of stairs. This was due to a private party taking place that caused access to the rooms to be via the stairs. There was no lift that would ease the situation. I advised staff that this was unacceptable and a member of staff was called to help carry some of our cases for us. The service offered to bring the car to the airport on our arrival was a positive bonus.
