When we arrived the transfer coach that we needed to travel on was booked up - so we had to go to the airport too early - it would be good if you could book this in advance of arriving at the hotel.

This place is by far the cheapest option for a night in a hotel near Gatwick with free parking - WITH GOOD REASON, the rooms are foul, our shower didnt work, some of the staff are nice, some rude, you have to pay £2.50 one way to get to the airport, we waited just under an hour for the bus back after the holiday and check your car for scratches before you leave because my girlfriend's car was quite badly scratched.

Considering the price for accommodation and parking the Russ Hill Hotel offers very good value for money.

Great room, nice staff..i do think 2.50pp each way courtesy coach is a bit much, especially when it only runs every hour.on return we missed bus by 2 minutes so had to wait another hour,which going home is not a good thing you cant really go back inside and eat or drink in case you then miss the next bus. so come on russ hill lay on more bus services like everyone else,as i think you will end up losing customers to other hotels that dont work out a lot dearer.

Awful - awful - awful. I will never use Russ Hill again. When utilising a service like this you want, good parking facilities, a good bed and comfortable room hence driving to the hotel the night before and a good meal. I'm afraid that Russ Hill failed on all aspects. Dreadful!!!!

Carpet in room 206 was in a very dirty condition and the heating in 615 was broken. The function room was in use on our return to the hotel which meant my husband had to carry 2 suitcases upstairs and back down and due to his health not being good caused him extreme difficulties. There was no porter to assist.

Room was neat and tidy, bus departed and arrived on time. Could do with more night lighting at far end of car park.

The room is adequate for an overnight stay. Dining facilities are very good with a choice of a carvery in the restaurant where the staff are very helpful, or a snack in the bar. The only downside is there appears to be no lift and getting the cases up to the room is difficult when you are older or if you have small children in tow. However, I did see staff helping with this.

Overall, a reasonably priced hotel with good facilities. Staff were ok without being overly friendly. They were helpful when needed. Parking surface needs improvement as finding a space and parking in it can prove tricky. For family of four a taxi cost us £2 more than bus and was at our convenience.

Since our plane comes in right after the hourly transfer we need to take a taxi which costs £12.50 to the hotel. Indirectly this added to the cost of our stay.

Staff initially denied there was a twin bedded room available in the hotel, then said there was one on the first floor but when asked to help me upstairs with heavy baggage they suddenly found what I needed on the ground floor! i.e. I was actully lied to! Bed mattress worn out with sticky out springs. And finally, young man unable to go outside to help with luggage (husband had recently had operation and could not lift, neither can I) and we had to wait in rain until he had found a towel to protect his hair-do!

I left my toothbrush & mobile phone behind (by accident); when I phoned, staff were really helpful and friendly. On my return I got them back with no hassle. Only one niggle- surface of the car park needs attention- a lot of pot holes. That apart, it was a brilliant experience- Thank you.

At this price it would be churlish to complain. We were unlucky to get the ground floor first room past reception, so had little sleep. Otherwise everything went smoothly.

We felt as if we were on a conveyor belt. The staff were unfriendly and whilst I accept the need to move the car there was no need to unset the Sat Nav, change the radio station to CD, play with the trip metre, change all the heating controls, change the light controls, all to move the car about 50 metres. The bedspread in the room had a cigarette burn in it, the blankets were worn and very old, the sink in the bathroom was cracked and there was mould all around the window in the bathroom. The airport transfers are only at hourly intervals and for two people cost an extra £10 on top of the room price. Breakfast was not included but judging from the rest of the experience it is probably best avoided. Altogether an unsatisfactory experience and I will not be using this hotel again. No wonder it was cheap.

This review represents the views of 4 of us on our way to Malta. Russ Hill was very good value for money - £25 per night per person including a weeks parking near the site. Good quality food and a great choice of it - nice selection of wines too. Not too expensive. We will certainly use the hotel again.

Staff were friendly and the room was OK. Except in the morning there was no hot water. I ran it for ages as well. As I was tight on time I did not complain, but instead carried on to breakfast. I thought breakfast was included but it wasn't and I think £9 is a lot for breakfast.

The staff at the Russ Hill Hotel were very helpful. I came back to a flat battery on my car. The Hotel had equipment and staff to get me on my way in less than 15 minutes, very impressive! The hotel room was looking tired and in need of a refit and redecoration. The room was non smoking but unfortunately most of the public areas of the hotel were not.

Parking must be improved. Eating in the bar was not a good experience because of people smoking and loud background music - food average. However breakfast was really excellent as was the service. Reception staff were only average - they could have been more helpful and professional. Hotel rather tired and needs a lot of TLC.

Because of an evening function in the ballroom, had to go up very large set of stairs across the landing and down a set of very steep stairs to get to our room. The carpet on the downstairs was in very poor condition and the steps are very steep, whilst carrying a heavy suitcase and the carpet's condition this could be a hazard.
