the hotel is well situated for the airport, the food in restaurant was well presented and the service was very good. the room left a lot to be desired and needed a complete make/over although for the price it was a good deal

We find that the Russ hill very reasonably priced for its location to the airport. Although begining to look a bit dated and worn it is always very clean and offers a good choice of food. We always use the Russ Hill when flying from Gatwick its the perfect start for the holiday

our first night stay here was ok as we were in a bigger room but the rooms are so thin you can here everything. on the stay on our return the bus was not there to collect us at 2.15 am as we had expected, and the only option was to get a taxi as the next one was not due until 3.45 am. when we arrived at 3am at the hotel the man on the counter smelled of alcohol and appearded intoxicated, we made our way to the room and had to walk across a court yard that was unlit and were worried about waking others, we finally went to sleep and were woken by the cleaner trying to get into our room, we were planning on a lye in before driving home, that did not happen, they were apologetic when we informed them at reception and were given a complimentary breakfast. the shower in the room had very low pressure and was tiny and grubby. we will NOT be satying here again. also the car mileometer had been reset, we are not sure why anyone would feel the need to do this unless it had been driven more than it should. we also requested a non smoking room and it was clearly a smoking one as smelt awful.

the Russ hill hotel had a disclaimer to sign saying they are not liable for any damage to the car, but did not go over the car first, very poor. also i had TEN extra miles on my mlieage when i got home. not good

Having read some of the other review was somewhat concerned however the hotel met our requirements perfectly; an overnight stay for a 6.45am flight! The coach transfer was very good and the evening meal of carvery excellent. Would recommend to others.

The stay at the hotel was very much value for money, very helpful staff. The rooms were clean and tidy and we would stay again if we needed to fly from Gatwick. We needed to stay an extra night on the way back and it was sorted quickly.

When collecting my car the battery was flat as the lights had been left on, it had mud all over the driver side carpet. Staff were most unhelpful and said it was nothing to do with them, bearing in mind it was the staff at the hotel that had caused the problems. The woman in the carparking office was ignorant and had no customer service skills what so ever. I would never use that hotel again.

Very good value for money, meant we could get uo in the morning with no fuss and got taken straight to the airport, and were picked up very promptly on return, Would not hesutate to recomend to a friend or use again ourselves

All in all very good but not enough milk supplied in room and had run out that evening. Noise insulation not sufficient between rooms. tv positioned so we could not enjoy it.Smelt like an old peoples home walking down the hallway, apart from that it was mint!

Seemed to have to wait a long time for transfer back from airport and the driver then stopped off at a garage to buy his snacks and crisps giving no explanation or apology for the delay. Lovely Italian restaurant in hotel or Carvery for the meat eaters, also bar food available. Friendly staff.

The staff were helpful but the rooms that were for 1 night stays were very small and very shabby. They need to upgrade their rooms now. I would not stay there again.

Bus to terminal in early morning overcrowded and not enough baggage storage area. Bus times during the day (hourly) not convenient. Having to wait an hour or more having just missed the previous bus is not a pleasant experience after a prolonged overnight flight. Recommend these two problems solved by increasing frequency of service throughout the day. Maybe 15 minute intervals in the early morning and peak times and 20 mins maximum during the off peak times.

Thought the rooms were terrible and did not get any sleep that night due to the dampness, smell of smoke in none smoking rooms,and to be honest the pure lack of cleanliness of the room. So not a good way to start the holiday!!!!

The Hotel was perect for its purpose. The parking in the extensive grounds of the hotel very safe and secure. Frequency of coach to and from airport could do with being improved.

you get what you pay for and this one was ok room clean,food & drink ok/good but a little expensive. coach transfers were great i would use russ hill again

The room was tiny, the decor shabby and dark. Worse of all it smelt of musty dampness. They didnt tell us on booking that the transfer was going to be £3.00 each for a single journey. On return the car was not brought up to the hotel but was three muddy car park 'fields' away. The place is awful. Please DO NOT USE IT!

Breakfast was a bit costly we thought so went to the local Sainsbury's instead. We were booked in for their Queen tribute night, had a great time good food, free wine and beer too! Worth checking out their 'special' nights. Would like to go again as soon as we get over the previous one!

We booked and paid for our room over the internet in advance, but on arrival 11.30pm I couldnt find the booking reference form that I had printed off. I was told by the very rude reception staff that there was no booking for me and that since I couldnt produce the reference form I would have to leave the premises! I requested that they let me use their internet so that I could show them the email that I had receievd confirming the booking. I was not allowed to do this, they asked me to use an computor in their lobby which cost me £3 for 5 minutes, and unfortunatly the email I was looking for had been sent to my work email address and not my yahoo account, so again i couldnt prove I'd paid for and booked the room. The reception staff advised there were no spare rooms and that we were to leave the hotel immediately. This left us in the position of driving around all the gatwick airpiort hotels at midnight trying to find accomodation. Since returning from my holiday I have phoned the hotel and written to the manager of the hotel twice including a copy of the email booking and confrimation that the money was paid in advance from my bank account. I have receievd no reply. No apology. No refund. I would not advise anyone to stay here. Im very disappointed, nobody from the hotel has even acknowledged my complaint.

the hotel room(219) that we were allocated to was very small and the en-suite can only be described as a 'closet'.The sit on the toilet my husbands knees were beneath the handbasin.A sign in the closet informed us toobtain hot water to run the tap for several minutes - hot water never appeared!On the morning we wanted a shower which was not working- the hotel phone didn't work and we had to use a mobile to contact a member of staff. We were given the key to a vacated room across the passage and we had to move from room to room in bathtowels - fortunately we didn't encounter any other guests! all in all a very unsatisfactory stay!!

My wife has stayed at the Russ Hill on 4 occasions over the past 10 years and feels that the rooms have become very tatty, albeit the restaurants have been refurbished. the food in the bar is very expensive and poor value.
