There was nobody on the front desk for a good 10 minutes when I returned to pick up my car keys. I had to go looking for someone.

Being the first time using your hotel I was impressed by the standard of the rooms and the food. The distance from the airport and the shuttle service available was fine.My only negative comment would be the time it took to get my car key from reception (35 minutes) due to the number of people booking in and only one person at the desk.But apart from that it was fine.I would certainly stay with you again and reccomend you to anyone requiring accomadation close to the airport

Our stay started off badly when we were given a room opposite another room which was being renovated - dust everywhere, constant saw and drill noise. We complained and were moved to another room in the hotel. The reception staff were friendly, although they didn't seem to know what was going on in other parts of the hotel. The entrance to the hotel doesn't fit in with the interior, which has been modernised and looks up-to-date and contemporary. One other issue we experienced was although we had drinks at the bar and paid for them the evening before, they still appeared on our bill when we checked out. We didn't have a recipet so we had to pay for them twice. Bar the above, the hotel was good value for money.

For a budget hotel it was clean and very comfortable. The triple room was ideally set up for myself and my 2 teenagers. Its location was ideal for the airport and although the bus transfers were a bit expensive, they were much cheaper than a taxi. I was very pleased with my choice.

I arrived at 4 am with 2 small children after our flight was delayed. Nothing was too much trouble for the gentleman on reception. He even went to the kitchen to fill the toddler's bottle with milk.

The Hotel was undergoing a big refurb which I was not aware of when booking, however I was given a good room but their appeared to be no bar or restaurantin use.

The hotel was easy to find, check-in was simple. Parking the car was difficult, we had a park and fly package but there was no space in the car park when we arrived. We checked in, went out for food and found a space when we came back but were a bit worried by then! The room was nicely furnished and very spacious (family room for 4), bathroom tiles could do with a good scrub though! We dd have trouble finding the receptionist in the morning to check out, and almost missed the bus because of this. The bus arrived on time (both to and from airport) and drivers were friendly and helpful. Would use this hotel again - overall it was good value for money.

We were upset to be asked to pay extra for overnight parking whilst we stayed at the hotel. After some discussion the fairly heavy charge was waived. Also the hotel charges for transfers to the airport so we did not use this facility. The rooms were excessively hot at around 27 deg C. Building work is in progress to the reception area. The extra costs take away the apparent cost advantage over other hotels and we wish we had booked elsewhere. These costs should be highlighted on the booking form.

A good quality hotel which is presently being renovated.It is handy with the pub/restaurant attached and we were upgraded to a large suite which was a nice surprise.Definately go back on our next trip from Gatwich.

We stayed the night of the 12th Feb 08 the place was in the middle of a facelift. Reception staff were friendly, but required all this info about the car, where is was parked, none of which we knew so had to keep going back to the car. Why can't an info page be sent with the booking letting you know the sort of stuff they are going to want, so as to avoid this. The transfer coach was then 20mins late picking us up, which when it is freezing at 06.10hrs you don't appreciate. On our return from holiday we got to Bus stop 11 just as the coach was pulling out. Not a problem we thought as the next would be there in half an hour! 1 hour later, waiting with an 8 year who was tired, 2 pensioners and with the prospect of a 6 hour car journey home to Cornwall we were not happy bunnies. At reception all we were offered was apologies, sorry that doesn't make for good customer relations. I had to ask for the info to whom I should complain, it was not offered freely, which when the Hotel have contracted to the bus firm strikes me as foolish. Hey ho if that's the way they want to run their business then sobeit.

Only issue was when I returned from the airport at 3.00am, there was no-one at the Reception Desk and I wandered around a completely empty hotel looking for someone to give me back my car keys so I could go home. Service is manned 24 hours, but to be fair at that time the duty person probably went into a back room, although he SHOULD have known my eta.

I booked a twin room and was rather suprised to find one double bed. I'd paid more to get the two seperate beds but really didnt have time to complain because we were only going to get 5 hours sleep as it was. The room was clean and the bathroom all worked perfectly.

The hotel has recently been taken over by Menzies (it was Thistle) and they are in the process of renovating it. The rooms have definitely seen better days and there was no reception as such because of the renovation work. In my opinion the hotel should be closed during this period or at least customers should be made aware of the situation and stay for reduced rates.

Thistle hotel: This hotel just about met our requirements for a clean, comfortable room to sleep in prior to traveling and upon our return from holiday,however,it was far from 4 star standard. the restaraunt food was poor, and the waitng staff rude and abraisive. The cheapest wine was £20 a bottle, and plonk to boot. There are probably better hotels availiable in the area for the price and I would not have stayed here again, but for a change of management. Menzies hotel: new management had took over for our second visit, whilst the restaurant menu, and rude staff have to date remained unchanged the hotel is undergoing refurbishment and promises to be much better in future if the standard of work so far is anything to go by.

Hotel was not clean or tidy. Dinner was served in a conference room not very nice. Also when returning to collect our vehicle it had a punchure. They said they did not do it but we drove down the night before and checked our 4x4 and the next morning. The hotel moved the vehicle and that is as far as we were concerned how it happened. We found this really annoying as the tyre had been flat for a while as it was down to the rim and spread out. Also we were going to a wedding from the hotel and we missed the wedding as it took my husband quite a while to change the wheel. Would never book at this hotel or recommend it to anyone again

The first room we were given had no heating. We were told this would be sorted. On return from dinner, we found a portable heater left outside our door. We explained that it would take a while to heat up, so were "upgraded" to a larger room that was just as cold! Although the food in the restaurant was good, there was absolutly no atmosphere! We all (four of us in total!) sat in silence, listening to each other eating! I would advise people to eat in the bar instead - we were unaware of this option.

The hotel was a little hard to find as it had changed names and no one had told us. The room was very clean and the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a little expensive so we decided to go and eat somewhere else. Would stay at hotel again and would recommend to others.

excellent service, and good value for money. we always worry about going on holiday and leaving the car, this time we were able to travel down the day before so were not worrying about the traffic and getting to the airpot on time. we were able to get a quick service to the airport there and back with out any worries - excellent service which we intend to use in the future and would not hestitate in recommending it especially to families.
