Free Breakfast At Holiday Inn Express Just Got Hotter

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010 by Casey

Remember the last time you stayed in a hotel and found the complimentary breakfast a bit disappointing?

Better than toast alone?

Better than toast alone?

What was it?  A slice of toast with a small packet of jam in your least favourite flavour?  Or was it a day-old apple danish you had to struggle to chew and swallow?  A child-size packet of cold cereal maybe?  I suppose your day could only go ‘up’ from there…

How does this sound, though?  Imagine tucking in to a FREE hot breakfast that includes scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, warm pastries and fresh, hot coffee (including cappuccino and espresso)!

No, you’re not dreaming.  All this can be yours when you book a hotel stay at one of the locations currently on offer from gosimply.com, like the Holiday Inn Express Birmingham or the Stansted Airport Express by Holiday Inn.

And remember, no matter which Holiday Inn Express you choose, breakfast is included in the price of your room, leaving you with a full stomach and slightly fuller pockets to boot.

Which? Airport Parking Is Cheapest? Check All The Facts

Friday, May 14th, 2010 by Casey

A new survey by Which? Car magazine indicates the cost of airport parking is “ridiculously high”…but are they giving you the full story?

BBC News reports that the magazine checked prices for 7 days’ parking at major airports across the UK, and found that there were big differences in cost depending on the location.  For example, Which? found that the most expensive parking option was Heathrow’s Business Parking at £88.70, and the cheapest was Manchester Airport’s “park-and-ride” at £19.84.

Now that’s a huge difference, indeed.  Of course, not all car parks are created equal and you’ll find different levels of service offered, which also affects price.  So perhaps it’s not entirely fair to compare apples to oranges.

You also might find that you get what you pay for when you’re looking for cheap airport parking.  Sure, Farmer Giles is offering you a space for £5.00 less than an “official” car park, but the thing is, you might be leaving your vehicle in the middle of an alfalfa field with cow security guards.  (For the record, gosimply.com offer only reputable airport car parking services, and we are not affiliated with Farmer Giles or his bovine friends.)

The cheapest airport parking deals can be found with gosimply.com

Prices for Liverpool, Bristol and Belfast International were also quoted, but there may be a slight problem…

The news report doesn’t mention what dates or times were surveyed, and as anyone who regularly uses airport parking knows, prices can fluctuate depending on the time of year you need to park.

Let’s look at Manchester Airport parking, for example.  Which?’s survey found that the cheapest price was £19.84, but when you conduct a search for 7 days’ parking (7-13 June) on gosimply.com you’ll see there are two options that cost less at the time of this writing.

The survey also showed that Belfast International had deals on off-site parking that started at £21.00, but a quick search with us reveals an option for £18.00.

The bottom line is, it’s best to check all the facts before you book your airport parking.  The best way to do that is by comparing prices at all of the best car parks, using a website that is unbiased, lets you read legitimate customer reviews, and actually compares several different sellers.  A “one-stop shop”, if you will, where you know you’ll find the best deal on airport parking without having to check anywhere else on the web.

Now how convenient is this?:  You’re already here.  😉

“More Than 100 On Board” Perish In Tripoli Plane Crash

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010 by Casey

There is sad news being reported from Tripoli Airport today where a plane has crashed, killing more than 100 passengers and crew members.

Officials in Tripoli are reporting that an Afriqiya Airways Airbus 330 has crashed whilst attempting to land at the airport after a flight from Johannesburg.

Several dozen Dutch nationals were on board Flight 8U771, and British and South African nationals were also thought to be passengers.  A Dutch boy is currently being reported as the only known survivor.

The cause of the crash is not known at present, but terrorism has been ruled out as a cause by Libyan Transport Minister Mohamed Zidan.

British Airways Cabin Crew Announce More Strike Action

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010 by Casey

As if the turmoil caused by the volcanic ash cloud wasn’t enough for travellers to contend with, Unite (the union for British Airways cabin crew) have announced dates for more strike action in May and June.

Following their rejection of BA’s latest offer in the long-running dispute over pay and working conditions, workers will hold walkouts on the following dates:  18-22 May, 24-28 May, 30 May – 3 June and 5-9 June.

Some BA flights will be grounded in the coming weeks

When walkouts were held in March, passengers suffered over the Easter holiday period and British Airways lost millions of pounds in revenue.  These new actions will disrupt travel plans over the Spring Bank Holiday and half-term periods, but are scheduled to end as the World Cup starts in South Africa.

BA has stated that flights from Gatwick and London City Airports would not be affected, and that they aimed to keep most of their longhaul flights from Heathrow on schedule.

As always, it’s a must to check with the airline before you head out to the airport to make sure your flight is still going ahead as scheduled.

gosimply.com will keep you up to date on disruptions via our Twitter account,  or you can find out the latest developments on the Official British Airways website.

Advice to passengers travelling to or from Ireland

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010 by Amie

Flights to and from Ireland may be subject to disruption on Tuesday 4th May, following the Irish Aviation Authority’s decision to restrict airspace over Ireland between 07:00 and 13:00. This is due to the movement of volcanic ash. Passengers planning to travel to or from Ireland should contact their airline for advice.
