Word has reached us here at gosimply.com that a customer has inadvertently locked himself in his vehicle whilst parked at the airport.

Mr. Stan Ridgway, former singer for the band Wall of Voodoo (who enjoyed a minor hit in the 1980’s with the song “Mexican Radio”), wrote to us via our website’s contact form this morning, unfortunately he forgot to state which airport he was stuck at!

In his cry for help, he indicated that he had experienced an apparent child-safety lock malfunction, trapping him inside his 1969 Chevrolet Camaro. His attempts to free himself have so far consisted of “yelling”, but no help has been forthcoming.

In our drive to always provide helpful, friendly advice to each of our customers, we have suggested he kick out a window or possibly make his way to the boot and attempt to release the latch from within.  So far, no reply from Mr. Ridgway has been received.

We implore any customers who may be in the area of an airport parking facility to listen out for muffled cries for help, in hopes that Stan may yet be saved and reunite the much-loved Wall of Voodoo for a worldwide tour.

Two car parks at Heathrow Airport are changing the terminals to which they will provide transfer services.

Heathrow Courtlands will now serve Terminals 1-3 only.  Any customers flying from a different Heathrow terminal who booked the service prior to the change will still be transferred to their departure terminal.

Heathrow Economy Parking no longer serves Terminals 1-3, and will only provide transfers to Terminals 4 and 5.  Currently, transfers are only being provided to Terminal 4, with service to Terminal 5 to start on the 6th of April 2009.  Customers who have already booked Economy Parking for Heathrow Terminals 1-3 will be upgraded to On Airport Long Stay Parking. Travellers affected by these transfer service changes will be contacted with details in due course.

We’re happy to announce special discounted Spring rates for two fantastic airport hotels.

The 5-star Heathrow Sofitel now has reduced rates for packages that include secure airport parking provided by Meteor car park.  These special rates are available now and apply to stays during the Easter holidays only (3-19 April 2009).

Special discounted rates are also currently available for packages at the 4-star Stansted Hilton that include a buffet breakfast.  The rates apply to bookings made up to and including 22nd May 2009, for hotel stays between 3rd April and 1st June 2009.  These hotel packages are not amendable or refundable.

Due to the very limited time these rates will be on offer, we highly recommend booking these airport hotel deals as soon as possible to avoid missing out!

BBC One’s Rogue Traders programme recently uncovered dodgy doings committed by a company providing meet and greet parking at Gatwick Airport.

It was revealed that drivers employed by ACE Parking UK were speeding in customers’ cars and parking them in un-secure car parks, including one site that was targeted by arsonists last October.

ACE Parking owner Colin Wells said he “took his eye off the ball for awhile”, but that he has now taken “drastic action” including purchasing speed guns for the cars and sacking the drivers who were caught speeding by the Rogue Traders crew.

Mr. Wells, who is also a stripper, was confronted in the middle of performing what he thought was a strip routine for a hen party, which was actually set up by the BBC programme.  Despite not having any issues with the problems highlighted on the show, he admits he was not happy with the way he was exposed, stating it was only an attempt to discredit him as a businessman.

Here’s good news for travellers flying out of Luton Airport who have pre-booked their airport parking at Luton Airparks.  The roadworks affecting access to the car park are now complete,  so it’s no longer necessary to use an alternate route to reach Luton Airparks, meaning less  worry about getting stuck in a traffic jam on the way.

Holiday Extras has announced they are raising the cancellation charges for airport parking bookings from £7.50 to £9.50.  The new charge comes into effect on 17 March 2009;  bookings made prior to that date will be charged at the old rate of £7.50.

This cancellation charge applies to all airport parking bookings cancelled at least 24 hours before the booking commences. ( No refund is issued for cancellations made within 24 hours or after the start of the reserved time period.)

At present, approximately 2% of gosimply.com‘s customers find it necessary to cancel their parking bookings, so to help them avoid the cancellation charge, a .99p “cancellation waiver” option will soon be available on all Holiday Extras airport parking bookings.  Customers who elect to purchase this waiver will not be subject to the £9.50 charge should they need to cancel.

Howard Dove, Sales and Operations Director for Holiday Extras, stated that the higher charge is necessary due to increased administration costs.
