Now that the contest has closed, we are pleased to announce the hidden face belongs to James Caan of the popular BBC2 programme Dragon’s Den!

Just as Mr. Caan invests in people who demonstrate the potential for success, we at gosimply.com take pride in offering our customers the simplest means of  booking their travel extras to ensure their holiday’s success.

Company directors James Burrows and Tim Hagger, had the pleasure of meeting with James Caan recently – although according to some  gosimply.com  customers,  they could have equally been face to face with Alan Sugar, Duncan Bannatyne or even Simon Cowell! Perhaps they were more crouching tiger, than hidden dragon…

The Future for UK Airport Car Parking

Thursday, September 10th, 2009 by Tony

As UK airports continue to expand car park operators are realising that that there isn’t the space to meet the increasing demand for car parking using the current conventional style of car park. Instead high rise parking lots, as used in Japan, are being considered.

Space in Japan is in such short supply that some car parks are now high rise buildings. Unlike the multi-storey car parks that we are familiar with these car parks don’t require that you drive to your parking bay, negotiating unfeasibly tight corners without scratching your paint-work. Your car is simply loaded onto a computer controlled carousel and taken to the secure parking bay automatically.

When you return to collect your car the operator punches the details into the computer system and your car is retrieved, much like an old Jukebox would retrieve a selected record. All very neat and efficient. A similar system is used by Volkswagen in Wolfsburg, Germany where they have a 20 storey facility that takes up only 20% of the space that would be needed by a conventional car park handling the same number of vehicles.

This new style of high-tech computerized car park has the added advantage of being exceptionally secure as vehicles are not readily accessible once parked.

It may be some time before we see one of these new facilities in operation at a UK airport but with the increasing demand for cheap air travel comes a similar demand for cheap airport parking and this will only be met with innovative new ideas like these Japanese style high rise car parks.

Simply the Cheapest Airport Parking

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009 by Tony

Here at gosimply we are committed to providing the cheapest airport parking prices while maintaining a high standard of quality and security. We routinely compare our prices with those of our competitors to ensure that we are amongst the cheapest available.

I’ve just carried out a brief comparison of our prices for parking at the two busiest UK airports, Gatwick and Heathrow, with those of our main competitors and I’m pleased to report that we are matching the cheapest prices quoted from their websites.

cheapest-airport-blogFor example, currently one week’s parking at Gatwick Airport (from 8/9/09 to 15/9/09) will cost you only £51.60 from gosimply. This is at the excellent Cophall Farm car park which has received glowing reviews from 98% of over 1500 customers who have kindly commented on the service. This price is on a par with the best price quoted elsewhere and most were significantly more.

Similarly, for the same period, we are currently offering parking at Heathrow Airport at only £46.95 for the week. This is at the Purple Parking off-airport car parking facility located just 15 minutes from the main airport terminals.

It is interesting to note that the prices quoted by BAA, who operate car parks at both Gatwick and Heathrow, are among the most expensive that I have found. This is why price-conscious, savvy travellers are choosing gosimply.com as their reliable travel-service provider.

East Midlands Airport receives Airport of the Year nomination

Monday, August 10th, 2009 by Casey

A celebratory mood is in the air at East Midlands Airport after recently receiving a nomination for one of the travel industry’s most prestigious awards.

Travel Trade Gazette has placed the airport in the shortlist for Airport of the Year, a testament to East Midlands’ dedication to being the best choice for travellers in the region.

TTG Travel Award nomination for East Midlands Airport“We had a record number of entries this year, demonstrating the resilience of the travel industry in this recession, so any firm which is shortlisted can feel very proud,” said Lucy Huxley, editor of Travel Trade Gazette. “Entrants are rated by the travel agents they work with, before being judged by panels of industry experts. Winners truly deserve to be named the best in our industry.”

Judges for the award include CEOs and Managing Directors of some of the biggest names in the industry, including Abta, Thomson and Virgin Holidays, in addition to leading figures from the commerce and retail sector.

Caroline Plant, Director of Marketing for East Midlands Airport said, “We are delighted to have received Individual and Group recognition for the prestigious TTG Awards, regarded as a universal benchmark of quality within the travel industry. Reaching the shortlist is a tremendous achievement and is a true reflection of the airport’s drive and determination to be the best.”

It’s not just the airport that has cause for celebration either. Long Stay Car Park 7 is a recipient of our gosimply.com Award for Customer Satisfaction this month. This means that when you choose to pre-book your East Midlands Airport parking there, you’re sure to get a hassle-free, value-for-money service.

Holiday makers from that part of the country could be forgiven for starting to feel a little bit spoilt, we reckon.
